No that is an irrational fear and we all experience those things from time to time, but no it won't unless it is just coincidence

Nope. I don't think that at all. I DO think that people sometimes worry so much or act negatively all the time to the point where they depress and distract themselves, which can have the indirect result of causing bad things to happen to them, but the bad things don't happen JUST because you think them. Your actions and the environment around you interact, and sometimes it is a bad mix. That said, I know a lot of hypochondriacs that never really get sick. I know perfectly healthy, positive people who have faced tragedy in their life. It has nothing to do with their thoughts and attitudes. BUT- good thoughts and good attitudes better prepare you to deal with the bad things when they DO happen. That is where a lot of people mistake this myth.

Some poeple believe in the law of attraction - that what you think will come to you. I suppose it is somehow proportional to the intensity/sincerity of the thought if such a law is indeed valid.
I've had some experience of the negative side of it but the positive rarely happens - perhaps I'm not passionate enough about the positive but it's not easy to be positive when you're feeling negative.

Interesting question. I JUST saw Deborah Norville in an interview and she discussed this topic exactly! She stated that your brain functions differently depending on whether you are focusing on positive aspects or negative aspects of you life. Meaning when you focus on good things, you tend to make better decisions therefore making good things happen and vice versa. I found this interesting, but still I don't think I'll stop knocking on wood : )

While I do belive mind set affects your preceptions of things, I don't believe they directly influence them.
Attitude is a major factor though in what happens to you.
For an example:
If you have a prolonged bad attitude at work, you'll get fired if you say the wrong things to the wrong person.
If you are excited or passionate about what you do, then you will gain satisfaction from it.

If you read the book The Secret, this is all explained. You basically make your own path-karma for yourself. If you are always thinking negatively, bad things are more likely to happen. if you have a positive attitude, good things will come your way.

I don't think a specific bad thing would happen just because you mentioned it, but I do believe a pessimistic attitude has a lot to do with failure.

I think (sic) that you are bordering on the phenomenon of 'self-fulfilling prophecies'. Do me a favour and stick a Google search in for that and see if that floats ya boat.
Or equally so you can go fukc yourself 'cos your obviously way too busy to read answers to your $hite question this far down the list. Ignorant ****.

i used to think that. But i am old enough now to see a pattern. The only time that happens is if I harbour that fear or if I try so hard not to think about it that I am acutally letting that fear control me by running from it. If I say or think about it and than let it go and move on, so does the fear and than I dont' attract that to myself. Make sense? lol
