Well theres a couple things i look for first and foremost is his platform, what kind of reforms or policies he stands behind next is definitely personality and character since that does seem to be a big factor in the popular vote, and lastly is his party affiliation. While i prefer voting for my own party if the better canidate is from an opposing party I will vote for him/her.

I certainly don't vote straight ticket. This election has presented a paucity of decent candidates. Obama won't put his hand over his heart, Hillary is a liar's wife with zero personal expeience, Guilliani is less than honest, McCain has cancer, Edwards is a little light in the loafers and what's his name is a Mormon. I mean, really, who cares? McCain is a straight shooter but I question whether he'd live 8 years.

I look for the character of the person. They are party connected but they will often take action based on their own personal predilections. I want to know how they personally feel about issue important to me like, abortion, immigrations, health care, security, and such.

How honest they seem. Also, when they answer a question, do they speak from the heart and is the answer to the point or are they just give lip service. I like an answer from conviction not something like "I pledge to do the best I can" when it is a yes or no answer.

The candidate's views on illegal immigration are on top of my list. If they want to live here, they should sign the guest book on the way in and learn our customs and languages as their predecessors did.

His own personal philosophies, his work ethic, and his priorities in his own life. Despite his policies and promises, his character is what determines his likelihood of success.
