It is *not* generally normal to get periods while still pregnant, and *most* women know they are pregnant long before they get a belly. However, it can be normal for some women. I'm not sure what causes it to happen, but it doesn't mean you are unhealthy. If your doctor says that you are healthy, there's nothing to worry about, and I don't think you need to search for a cause. The only thing any one on here can do is speculate. We can't tell you any more than your doctor did. Are you being treated for your thyroid problems??

you can have bleeding while pregnant but it is NOT a period something is up if the doctor says your healthy ask why your bleeding bleeding during pregnancy is never a normal or good thing. something inside you is bleeding!! so while you may be bleeding DO NOT THINK ITS YOUR PERIOD
While a woman is pregnant, she does not get her period. Here's why.
It starts in the ovaries, the part of a woman's body where all her eggs are stored. We're not talking about the kind of eggs you eat for breakfast! You would need a microscope to see these eggs, which are a woman's contribution to the creation of a baby. Each month a woman's ovaries release an egg. As the ovary is getting ready to release the egg, the inner lining of the uterus (the part of her body where a baby can grow) builds up.
If the egg is fertilized by a man's sperm, the fertilized egg will implant on the inside of the uterus. That buildup of tissue and blood will be needed as the baby develops. The woman will not get her period that month or any month during her pregnancy. It may be several months after the baby is born before her periods begin again, though she may be able to get pregnant again even before menstruation returns.
If the egg is not fertilized, the inner lining will break down and pass out of the body through the vagina. The woman will get her period as usual.
Hormones, which are chemicals that are released in a girl's body, help make the whole process work. Without hormones, the ovaries would not be able to release the eggs, and the uterus would not be able to prepare for a growing baby.
want to add here if you are rh negitive and bleeding this can be even worst for baby

some women have periods while pregnant and everything is fine. i would talk to your dr everytime you go in for a visit just to be on the safe side. even when your dr tells you that you are healthy, something can change a few weeks or months after a check-up. i would think that everything is fine. a lot of times we worry over nothing.
take care and congrats!

it's normal to still get periods while pregnant, that's why most people don't realize they are pregnant until they start getting a tummy!
