Absolutely. I am puzzled by this being in philosophy and not psychology. We life with the myth that there is ether happiness through spontaneity or planning. The myth goes - you cannot have both. this is nonsense.
A balanced person will indeed use both tools to enhance life. This is so easy to do once you let go of the myth and embrace what it is to be a whole human.
After all, look at the Renessence men like De Vinci and others.

Hi
I recall the words of a philosopher " Find happiness in the hear and now and not in things". any goal is achieveable if the goal setter is sure of his destination. One who reaches his goals amidst all trials is truly a happy person

That is only a label and a mask. You don't have a choice but to live day by day as you have no way of knowing what will happen next. The hope of knowing the future has spawned every superstition and science known. None have been 100% successful to date. You have only probability to wield and that will only help you so much.

hi buddy
thats right!a goal setter really finds happiness and a purpose in his/her life.
-->its like this--- a person without goals say "wish you happy new year" and starts that year and all of a sudden, before his own eyes, that year would have come to its end and he--reluctantly prepares himself for his next "wish you happy new year".
but a goal setting animal always knows where its going, whats its domain and what ought to be done.that"ll make its life a fun and where fun is,theres happiness.
-->any one, despite of their current position, age, status, education background, any disease condition and extreme sort of problems--can still set goals and achieve it.
--->i always write down my goals in a dedicated journal that iuse and i tell what,i always achieved every and all that i targetted.its full of happiness.
all the best for u r future.

Ah, this sounds harder than it is. You need to look at your goals and see what is really beneath them. The roots are what you can use to live day by day. Living in the "now" doesn't mean that you hopes, dreams and aspirations are gone, it just means that you have boiled down your dreams to their true meaning. You need to be okay living at the heart of the matter.
