While my son was away during his last term at college, I had decided to divorce my husband (his father) and take a job in another state to start a new life. I thought I was doing the best thing by not telling him about it, because I was afraid he would be so upset that he would not pass his final exams.

So, after he came home, I told him of my plans, and he was totally and completely devastated. The worst part for him was that I hid the truth about filing for divorce. When he called home every week or so, I'd say that everything was fine...which was of couse not the truth. But I considered it a "temporary" lie that I would be for the best so that he could pass his exams. Even my husband and my daughter agreed that I should wait to tell him until he got home from college.

I will regret the way I handled that situation the rest of my life, because of how hard it crushed him....not only hiding the truth about filing for divorce, but leaving so soon after he returned from college to start over in another states (because I had already signed a contract for a job). I figured that since both my "kids" were adults and had started their own lives, that my moving away wouldn't be such a big deal. Boy, was I wrong!

My lesson from that is to never, ever hide information from anyone again - esecially my son and daughter. From now on it'll be the whole truth and nothing but the truth...immediately.

I've made too many mistakes to narrow it down to just one. But the upside to that is that I haven't made a colossal enough screw up to place it into a league all of its own, as the undisputed "biggest." I think that's a noble goal in life: try not to screw up too badly, but learn from your experiences when you do.

i assume it replaced into dropping the "I" area of me. I forgot that I had the capability and the means to stand on my own legs, proud and tall... That I had a voice of my very own and that the entire international replaced into waiting to hearken to it :D. while my ex broke up with me, i replaced into shattered and broken. It replaced into an fairly sturdy factor by way of fact i found out that i could in no way be too based on everybody, and that my targets are what i'm here for specially. That courting resulted in such airborne dirt and dirt and crap, friendship looks to be the only sparkling factor in existence... and that i in simple terms wanna save it that way. I genuinely have superb acquaintances, and all my rigidity is long previous. i will experience the adaptation commonplace, i'm a lot greater confident and a lot greater reliable. journey is a stressful instructor; she provides the checks first and the lesson afterwards. yet unusually, this technique of coaching sinks the lesson deeper into our blood better than any way else.

It's big enough to not want to say. But I learned how to truly respect myself so that I could respect others.
