I consult with businesses all the time, but, honestly, it's easier to provide clear answers to actual clear questions.

A "shop" can be anything from a woodshop to a hair salon, to a headshop.

Regardless, advertising is always a good idea, also, sponsor a local sports team so that your banner can be up at the local ball park. Sponsor highschool yearbooks and choir concerts.

If the traffic isn't coming in your direction, create a need for it to do so. Host a block party or something outside of your shop, or even, bring in a local band to perform one night for a free of charge concert. People might buy something.

It all depends on the specifics of your shop and the town in which you are located.

Advertising: yellow pages, newspaper, TV, radio, local magazines, web site, coupons, Chamber of Commerce, state fair, billboard, bulletin boards, hand outs, etc.

Have a big sale.

Host a party: grand opening, 3rd anniversary, Owners birthday, thanksgiving, etc.

Find out what kind of people you wnat in your shop, then find out where those kind of people congregate, and then advertise there.
