When I talk, she looks at me, it's when she talks, she will look away. I guess I should have worded this better. Sorry

I always look at people in the eyes when I talk to them but I don't let it bother me if they don't.. The point of any conversation is getting a message across to the other person. Whether they look me in the eye or not is unimportant..

Yes, I know people like that. It is almost as if they don't want to be rude and stare at you. What they don't realize is that looking away from a person while they are talking makes people think they don't care and that is rude to. I understand people get easily distracted sometimes or they don't care about what you are talking about. It can be annoying though. Maybe your friend has some kind of social condition where it is hard for him or her to look directly at someone. It is very common but there are many answers for why people do that.

this is a habitual phenomenon...eyes are the mirror of what a person is and it is a good indicator of what the person is going through. so it does not matter if the other person is not looking into your eyes, if you can look at the person so whenever he looks at you make sure you make eye contact. It is a fact that people avoid eye contact when they wish to hide their true self whereas in a place like Japan looking into the eyes means that you are disrespecting that person...so even culture also plays a part

Sometimes you can tell with people , I don't like it myself i feel it's rude or maybe they find you a threat sometimes or even shy . Some get nervous when speaking to other people . I'm the kind of person who would say do you see something up their that i just cant see , Then maybe they will get the hint that you are a person and not a tree.

This is not active listening - this person has lost focus. Try to see if certain topics bring that on sooner - then keep those briefer. Some people just don't have the focus and some subjects -ie. I was interested in nickel pen plating this morning - you're probably not.

hi. i do that all the time. sometimes the person might not even notice. and if they do, sometimes people can not focus all of their attention when they are talking to someone.

it happens and it is a hard habit to break. the person might be shy or have a hidden or undiagnosed OCD problem or ADD. have you talked with her about it?

it can be a little frustrating but as long as they are hearing everything and they are fully aware of the conversation you might have to just ignore it.

when i do it my friends just yell at me to look at them lol sometimes works
good luck

I agree that can be annoying, but did you know that people from certain cultures do not make eye contact while having a conversation? I guess it is considered rude in their country...

I have found that people that lack confidence or have low self esteem find it hard to look people in the eye even when they are talking to them directly. Maybe your friends suffers from one of those two, have you ever talk to them about how they feel emotionally.

well some say thats a sign of lying. But since you have known her for so long, some people do this unintentionly because its their way of dealing with an uncomfortable situation. She might have done it all her life that its a hard habit to break.

Nah, I don't know a person like that, but he probably is just nervous to look you in your eyes. Maybe you're just too beautiful.
