Bush doesn't know enough about the culture and he's causing more damage that the next president will have to deal with. Too bad he wasn't more informed BEFORE he began this horrific war.

Huh?
How do you figure? About a million of them are dead, and millions more homeless; tens of millions have been tortured and raped; entire cities have been flattened, infrastructure not working.
Then, consider that their secular government has been replaced: women USED to be able to decide for themselves whether to completely cover themselves when they left the house, now they must; heck, they can't leave the house at all unless accompanied by a male relative.
The young have been deeply traumatized, malnurished, unable to go to school: the wounds for many of them will never heal.
The entire country has been brutalized: physically, psychologically, sociologically, economically, environmentally, and politically for years, with no end in site.
I don't know what you had in mind, but, no, the murder and destruction can't be undone; Iraq is splintered and shattered.

Its amazing.
Bush doesnt understand them. Our other leaders dont understand them. They obviously dont understand one another or they wouldnt be fighting so much.
Inzend I on the other hand has the unique ability to fully understand the Muslims in the middle east-s/he has this innate ability to know that everything we have tried will fail. What gives you this insight? Can the mental illness that allows you to do this be replicated in mere politicians who spend years talking with those people and in gov't aides who spend years studying the situation? Would they be better off if instead of reading info that you dont have access to, they only watch tv news and made conclusions based on that?

It was put to us in so many ways. We're there to stop terrorism. We're there as liberators. All this is untrue. We are there as an occupying force for the strategic military placement of U.S. troops. This is to protect what our government sees as our interests in this region. This includes oil and Israel. The Iraqis lives will never return to what was. And it is of little consequence to the occupying force their level of acceptance.

I don't think so. We in the west do not have the same culture - and I believe this was a problem with the invasion. I think it is difficult at best to think we could roll in and give these people democracy - they have to want it for themselves.

Why? They should feel right at home. Pretty much the same things are going when Sadam was still in power.
But your right we should not let them bend to our ways we should put things back the way they were and keep them under the heel of the US like they were under the heel of Sadam that sounds so much better than freedom right?
