I've been an Atheist since I was 12...I'm 22 now...I'm still very much an Atheist. My family is very upset, but I need proof. I'm the kind of person who needs proof that something exists or is real. Can anyone use examples from the Bible (not your own life) and prove something to me?

There is no proof that any religion or god is real, but there is much proof that they are not real. In the case of Christianity, the Bible is strong proof that its deity is not real, since this book is filled with glaring contradictions and ignorance of science and reality. It shows that ignorant men who claim to speak for a god one of them invented wrote it.

You said you can only believe by proof. Then what proof do you have that there is no God? That is your belief, yet without any proof. So maybe you just need to accept the fact that you don't know if a God exists. At least that's a first honest step. You can't prove that he exists or does not. I think he has a way of making your mind understand, but it's not by your doing. So if you reject the possibility that he exists, then you're rejecting the only thing that can bring the belief to you in the first place. Take step one and let go.

As a christian who has done extentive studies on science and philosophy, I can tell you this. NO, I can't prove God or Christ to you. It's all about faith, and what you choose to believe. You can do research on Jesus Christ's life via historical records to see what kind of a human being he is via secular view. You can come up with fancy reasoning on why being an atheist is right way to go.

All of these mean absolutely nothing. In the end, you have to pick to believe in God or not. If you do, it will be a very personal journey for you to find your own path to God via Christ. It's not about proofs. It's about beliefs. When philosophy is broken down to its basic core, it must assume something, or blind faith, to develop a complete philosophical structure.

Both atheitistic scientists and christians scientists believe in big bang right now, but what happened before big bang? Atheists say there is absolutely nothing before. No time, and no space whatsoever. Christians believe instead that God was there before big bang, and he guided univsersse and human evolution process (with slightly varied theories within Christians off course).

If you seriously ask for my personal opinions, I would say atheists are so very pessmistic and unpleasant to be around. What's all the crap about coming from nothing and going to become nothing? And everything is completely random. What's the point of having being born then? What's the point of even continuing living?

Christian views are just more healthy. There is a heaven (or next plane of existance as I like to call it). There is an order in the universe even though we don't quite comprehend it. Some being (in this case, God) is watching over us. Everything will turn out okay. You can call this view delusional, but I don't see how being an atheist is better at all.

Anyhow, some words for you to chew on. Think about it.

Could you prove that your life has meaning and purpose without resorting to feelings (feelings not being reality)?

What about the future? You go forward into the future with the hope that certain things will happen, yet you have no proof.

To believe simply means "to hold as true" and is an act of the intellect. We believe things all the time when we need to do so in order to go forward or reach a goal. I believe something about my local weather because I need to know how to dress.

We were either created or not. No other choices. Just those two. How do you assign probabilities to that? I can't and I'll bet you can't.

I believe my Creator exists because I hope to find the love that He must have for me. Other people believe that He doesn't exist because they don't want God to be an authority over them.

We seek those things that we think most important to find, even when the chances are exceedingly small. For example, when the lottery jackpot gets big, the lines of people buying tickets goes around the block even though they know they have a better chance of being struck by lightning. The fact that you aren't willing to seek your Creator proves what you think He is worth. Why would God prove Himself to someone who has already rejected Him?

You were an atheist at age 12, just about the age when many adolescents start to want independence from their parents. No big coincidence that they might also want independence from God. As one atheist said, "I would no more want to take God with me to college than I would want my parents to go with me to college".

The fact that you have doubt shows that you actually know in your heart that there is a God. I do not have to prove to you that there isn't a boogeyman... you just know there isnt one. Someone has to prove their love to you because you know that it actually can exist. Going ten years in your life without knowing True Love is proof enough that you need to try something else. Your decision though. If you are truly happy being who you are, then may God or whoever/ whatever you believe in continuously bring you joy. Christians are not here to prove there is a God, our life and the example that we are to show is supposed to be the proof. Be blessed.. or Good luck... whatever makes you feel better... (but I bet you would love to be Blessed!)

Why would an atheist ask for proof from a book that he does not accept as an authority? Why not ask for evidence from the world of reason? You are not a real atheist until you base it on something other than a family temper tantrum.

You have asked a broad question and are seeking narrow answers. As we pass through this life, we all must make choices - self-determination. I choose to believe in God and that Jesus was his son. The word Christian means "to be like Christ". Every day that passes, I try to be a better person than I was the day before. Sometimes I pass the test and sometimes I fall short of that goal. We all have to believe in something. Otherwise, our lives lack direction. It's easy for me to see God in my life and all around me, because I expect these things. There are things in this world that we can't see, touch, or taste; yet, we know these things exist. We accept that as fact. It's called faith. Rather than ask others to justify the existence of God, can you prove that God is not real?

I don't know how to put this. Wanting proof will not get you anywhere. The spirit testifies the truth to you. I suggest reading reading the Book of Mormon (you can easily get a free copy somewhere, look on the website lds.org) and the Bible (they go hand in hand), and pray and ask God if it is true, and I testify to you that the Holy Ghost will tell you if it is true or not. That's all I have to say.

No proof. Belief in the bible as proof is just a circular argument and all circular arguments are false.

As for predictions, read up on cold reading:

I used to be an astrologer until I saw the light. Thats the way we make predictions come true.

As for being an atheist in the face of such family opposition, stick with it. I have even with so much 'rammed down my thoat'

Evolution can be summed up in terms of a progression that puts an exact date on the missing link:

6,000,000,000
.. 600,000 000
.... 60,000,000
..... 6,000 000 -- date of missing link
........ 600,000
......... 60,000
........... 6,000 -- Modern man (Adam and Eve)

.............. 600
............... 60 -- 666
................. 6

................. 0 - end date in prophecy

All dates are based on occurrence as per significance. This is to say that man is not an ape. To the progression can be added the numbers 600, 60 and 6. A 0-date has been reached.

Signs of the End Times:

"Flood" = flood of chores. "Scorched with great heat" = career burnout. Chariots shall rage in the streets = rush hour. Hippies = people of the prince. Hippie philosophy = beat the system. A prince is as one who does no work.

Q. I have a busy, successful life, hobbies, family, etc. Why do I feel like something is missing? - A. Inertial mass = "rock"; gravitational mass = "stone". In general relativity, the two are indistinguishable. "Rock" = motion; "stone" = rest. Pushing on a rock controls where it goes. "Stone" = not conduct oriented.

Gospel of Thomas - 50 Jesus said, If they ask you, What is the evidence of your Father in you? say to them, It is motion and rest." - pbs.org/

Stephen Hawking - January '99 - "I shall adopt the no boundary proposal, and shall argue that the Anthropic Principle is essential, if one is to pick out a solution to represent our universe, from the whole zoo of solutions allowed by M theory."

Anthropic - * relating to mankind or the period of mankind's existence.

Christ brought meaning into the world. As of 1984, two meanings = doublespeak. Second meaning = Second Coming. Science knows nothing about human nature except in terms of conditioning. The Bible speaks of conditioning in terms of the "beast 666". Matt. 24:22 -"except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved". Progression = a brief history of time.
