I 100% support the legalization of marijuana, both for medicinal and recreational use. I would like to hear why you are for or against marijuana legalization. I have all the responses to the arguments I know I will get:

Marijuana is a dangerous drug leading to others. - Marijuana is actually less harmful than nicotine and alcohol and there is no known fact that proves marijuana is a gateway drug.

You want people to get stoned all the time? That's what will happen! - Well, liquer stores and bars are always open and people can go and get wasted anytime they want. Nobody is protesting bars and liquer stores to be closed during early work hours.

Marijuana is a harmful drug. You can die from it! - Nobody has died EVER from overdosing on marijuana.

What about the kids? They will get it more freely. - Well i don't think so. Being legal takes away its "edge" and it won't be unique anymore. Plus, just like cigarettes, stores can check ID when purchasing marijuana cigs.

Yes, it should be legalized. I think the problem is the government cannot mandate it so they dont want it legalized.

Cigarettes pose a much greater threat. As a matter of fact, millions die each year from the effects of smoking cigarettes.

Legalize it already!

No. It should not be legalized. And just because there are bad things that are legal (cigs, beer) doesn't create a valid argument for legalizing other harmful things.
There are studies that say marijuana smokers are more prone to lung cancer due to intentionally holding the smoke inside their lungs longer.
I wouldn't call it a "gateway" drug either, but just like the speed limit, make it 55, everyone goes 60... make it 70 and everyone goes 75. The best way to keep kids off harder drugs is to keep the "edge" on marijuana. In fact, let's make cigarettes illegal - the "tough" kids can once again meet behind the gym to take a drag on a Marlboro.

Our local, state, and federal governments could all pay off their debts if cannabis were regulated and taxed like alcohol and tobacco.

Cannabis is a relatively benign, non-addictive, non-toxic herb with a documented history of use that stretches back thousands of years. It has been used successfully as a fiber for clothing, a foodstuff, a fuel, a medicine, a spiritual aid, and simply for relaxation and recreation.

No civilized nation makes war against a plant, especially one as useful as Cannabis. Get informed. Get active. We can change unjust and cruel laws

I don't see why it is not legal I personally think alcohol causes more deaths and problems per year than some guy who smokes joint before he goes to bed. At bars where people get drunk they risk the chance of killing someone if they drive home if you smoke to much pot you go to sleep, no person can get hurt if some pot head falls asleep.

yeah, legalize and tax it. Use the revenue to fund Social Security. Problem solved.
