In old days elders were helping children to build up energy slowly in the right arm. That was the time when bow and arrow, swords and riding were the qualities of mankind. It was really difficult to defend the dagger and sword attack if your sole power was confined in your left arm. Now even in the present time if you are left handed, it becomes a bit difficult to find a proper scissor, sowing machine and general day to day tools specifically for the left handers. Just think about the time when only manual labour was in demand. I read it some where out of the whole manpower while building Taj Mahal there was not even one left hander as this would bring bad luck for the king during the operation. It is history that Aurangzeb himself was left handed. In short it was an infusement to children to build energy in the right hand because of they being called odd one out.

Taking right foot in or out. To me it does not sound good, but I heard elders saying it. If you practically do it which I tried many times, your balance is not perfect because your arm and leg both are in the air and you are left in equalibrium for a split of second while getting off the bus, getting in the car, setting for a bike ride. I think you are better off if you are stable and well balanced i.e. one foot ahead and your opposite side arm backward, I think you are more stable. Both right foot and right arm, left foot and left arm do not count as your stability while walking, running, climbing but again perhaps these elders wish us to build up our mussles in the right leg. Very truly, their these preachings have definitely helped me a lot in my life and I have achieved so much with these golden rules as otherwise, now when I imagine, where I would be if I was on the contrary. Any way it was a good question.

It is an old tradition based on the sinister hand being the left hand. It becomes a practical habit when you use your left hand to clean up after going to the bathroom in a society that lacks toilet paper.

Just like any religion over time... Its like a circle of children who whisper a sentence into each ear until the meaning is completely degraded and unrecognizable by the time it reaches the 12th child.

Their religious views that started off thousands of years ago with good virtues got distorted and digressed into superstition, thus comparing the majority who are right handed, decided being left handed was not normal.

Then they took it a step further to left leg and the left side being sinister or somehow evil.

left had or leg is said to have bringing bad luck to people. I also think it was because when Jesus was crucified, he was crucified in between two othe thiefs. the one one the left teased Jesus where as the one on the left believed in Jesus and asked him to take him with him when Jesus ascend to heaven and he was taken. so right is considered luckier than left. I think this is the reason

Because they use the left hand to wipe themselves after using the bathroom...it's also improper to shake with that hand.
