Why can't we find common ground? Is it because that is boring? Why do we post loaded questions? Why do we answer loaded questions? Why doesn't sharing ideas bring joy? Are we addressing the crowds with our questions? So many questions! Why can't we just get along?

Honestly Evie,
The spectrum of people on here is so vast that the variance is too great to know the answer to this question. Just as in society, it is determined by up bringing, culture, location, and parenting. There are many fabulous people on here and many not so fabulous, but I guess that is what tolerance is all about...

There is more to life than just getting along. This world is full of serious problems that need to be addressed. It would have been nice, if when our leaders were planning and carrying out the war in Iraq, if they had debated more on the different options, rather than trying to just get along. It is a tough world we live in, and debating forcefully, is a good thing, as long as the best solution to a problem is the goal..

I"ve been saying that for years !!! Even if we dont all have the same beliefs and ideals we are all grown ups and should at the very least agree to disagree. Our differences are what makes the world a more diverse and fascinating place. We should enjoy eash others differences and learn from them.

HEAD STRONG PEOPLE BELIEVE THERE WAY IS THE ONLY WAY OR AT LEAST THE BEST WAY . AND SOME OF THIS IS TO COUNTER PEOPLE PUSHING A AGENDA , IN FACT THERE ARE TOO MAY VARIABLES TO EVEN GIVE A COMPLETE ANSWER . MOST PEOPLE ARE WEAK MINDED AND GO WITH THE FLOW , WHICH PUTS MANIPULATORS AT A ADVANTAGE . LOOK AT ALL THE B.S. PUT OUT AT ELECTION TIME IF YOU THINK I'M WRONG . YOU KNOW THEY PLAY THE MASS ONLY FOR THERE VOTE ( THERE ARE A FEW HONEST ONES ) A LOT OF THESE QUESTIONS ARE TO PUSH A AGENDA , GET PEOPLE MAD AT A GROUP ; PERSON ; G.O.P. PARTY ; OR JUST TO GET PEOPLE THINKING . WHEN THEY ARE LYING ABOUT OR MISLEADING ,IS WHEN I COME DOWN MOST CRITICAL WITH A ANSWER . IN A FAIRY TALE LAND WE JUST MIGHT GET ALONG , BUT IN THE REAL WORLD ( SORRY TO SAY ) IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN . TO MANY GREEDY PEOPLE TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE TO GET OVER , AND NOT ENOUGH HONOR LEFT AT LARGE

as long as there are differences of belief and philosophy, what you decry, the asking and answering of "Loaded" questions, will occur. I don't see differences as inherently wrong, they are part of our human nature. I need to ask what YOUR definition of "Common ground" is, since we all have our own pet definitons of the ideal. Sharing ideas has it's risk, since each of us has our own ideas. We regard our ideas as our intellectual children, and not everybody is going to agree-with, or "Like" our "Intellectual offspring", and that is going to sting a little. All we can do is remember to NOT take disagreements as a personal affront.

As a Christian and Bible lover I believe it began in the Garden of Eden...the serpent tempting Eve...calling God a liar. He created the grounds for separation, unfortunately Adam and Eve fell for it. It became an evil perpetrated on all mankind out of jealousy, power, fear, retaliation, etc.

Because it goes back to the very core of our belief systems - and then how, and what we were taught - and finally our own choices.

We all have a choice to be kind or cruel. Calm or angry. etc
Most do not accept this - yet it is true.
Having a belief system anchors a person - whether they have chosen their belief system correctly or not.

Very interesting Evie!
I'd say: background, interaction, acceptance, stubbornness, stupidity, blindness, incompetence, jealousy, selfishness, ignorance, ill-will!

Differences in opinions and beliefs and in some cases just downright ignorance and intolerance.
