What do you do when you have one of those days where your just down? Today I am very depressed and I am trying to find a way to get through the day. I guess I am just really missing my husband and I am trying to be strong for him. But I am so emotionally drained. I normally vent to my family but I don't have a way to talk to them right now. So for those who have gone through this what is it that you do when you have those days?

I know your probably not looking for a guys advice but Im a US Marine. Having been deployed my girl and I went through a similar situation. First thing I recommend that helped my girl is to get busy at the rec center on your local base. There are plenty of activity groups for spouses of deployed guys. If you stay busy with a group of ladies in similar situations you will all be able to share your feelings in a supportive group that understands. You will also be able to distract yourself by participating which believe it or not really helps.

Personally, i think that joining one of the military spouces groups is only inviting DRAMA into ur life. I stick to the spouces n soldiers i know. When im down, i just do something to make me happy. Go to dollar stores, a little bit of money goes along way there. lol! Go to the mall, a park, get ur nails done, geeze u could even color if u wanted to! Just do things to bring urself back to ur own happy place!

Do you have children?

My husband got out of the army in March but we went through 2 year long deployments to Iraq.

The 1st... I became a gym rat. I did anything I could to try keep my mind off of everything. I got a puppy and he kept me pretty busy.

The 2nd... our son was 9 months old when he left so I didn't have as much time to sit around and think. I consumed myself in my son and it was much easier that time.

Try to do something you love. Call up your friends and do anything you can to keep your mind busy. And, whatever you do, don't listen to the news or sad music!!!!!!

Wives of deployed soldiers have support groups and meetings and you should be able to find someone thru them to speak with about this. Call your ombudsmen today!

Vent. Cry. Watch a stupid comedy (NOT a romantic comedy!!!). Anything to distract me.

I find comfort in telling myself that all I have to do is get through today. Tomorrow will be better...AND tomorrow will be one day closer to his return.

Good luck to you, and he's in my thoughts for a safe and fast return to you.

usually i just stay busy, stay on the computer and look up things you have always wondered about.. recipes, crafts.. how to's.. then use your new knowledge.. crafts and baking can take many hours out of your day and you'll have something to show for it when your all done.
