i have never signed on to a contract with a phone company i
have always used virigin mobile (pay as you go) can
someone explain like what it means extended nights and
weekends all that kind of mumbo jumbo?

If you are trying to sign up with a bell phone or whatever company when you go to buy your phone and get the contract ask them about it.

Depending on how much you use your phone, you may want just to keep the pay as you go.
With cell phone contracts you usually have the choice of a one year or two year contract. Most of the time the phones will be cheaper on a two year contract than a one year. If you sign one you must keep paying for that amount of time and if you want to get out of a contact there are usually a termination fee per line that you would have to pay. That price usually ranges from 100 to 200 dollars per line.
Free nights the provider will give you a time frame when you can use your phone and you will not be charged for the calls. For example verizon's nights start at 8:59 pm and go to 6:01am of the next day i do believe. A company like sprint may have hours that start at 7pm.
Free Weekends are the same idea, for example verizon i belive the time is from 8:59pm friday night to 6:01 monday morning is your weekend hours.

Extended nights and weekends means that the free nights start earlier than some other plans and that the weekends start earlier and go later than other plans.

Stick with the "pay-as-you-go" It's much cheaper in the long run.
