Yes. And I am the 'Captain of My Soul'.

It is vitally important in my opinion that a person at least attempts to Master their fate. Be the main influence in your own life. Do not let the tides of others wash you up on the shore of the world.
Being the master of your fate is really just about being proactive in your life. Do not wait for things to happen to you. Make them happen. You may not be able to affect the changes you want at the moment you want them, but persistence has its rewards.

Add: The quote is from "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley.

2nd Add: I think that alot of people confuse 'fate' with 'destiny'. Fate most definitely exists. Fate is simply whatever happens to you. I agree that there is an argument that 'destiny' does not exist in terms of a predetermined outcome.

There's no "FATE" - if you consider life under existential p.o.v
Life is what and as you do it everyday, according your temperament, education, ambitions etc - those elements are at work, and rely widely on a vison of the future - near future and far future - so that your existence relies widely on the result of what you're doing , how you decide, behave etc in a present which was future, which is in course, and is going to turn into past -

Do I master my fate, you understand it, is not my problem
How I face life is my business !!! - and YOU maybe will say ok he masters his "fate" or believes he does.

Only to a certain extent, but that can fluctuate. Not all are created equal. Some people possess more talents then others. Some people were born with perfect health, some where not. Use what you have to get what you want. And harm no living creature is a good philosophy in the process of achieving your goals.

well I don`t think we can predict what our fate will be, but I do think the deeds we do know may determine the path that we will find our selves on later in life. Right now though I would settle for the side of the road but hey what can I say?

Complex question. Some behaviorists would say that we are programed to act in a certain way by our upbringing. On the other hand, sociobiologists claim that we are programed to act as we do by our biological heredity. I think it's a combination of these things. Some people seem to transcend nature and nurture to become unique individuals.

Once you decide to operate from your own inner power, exercising your personal choice from the level of your higher self, your "I AM Presence", you are choosing to be aligned with the Highest within yourself. This alignment will bring about self-empowerment and self-mastery.

You are in control of your life to the degree that you are the one making the decisions and taking responsibility for the consequences of those decisions.

there is no such thing as fate so therefore no you do not. the very concept of fate is in itself a flawed belief. it is very easy to disprove fate and many times it has been. for example if you kill yourself but you were "fated" to cure cancer did your fate come true. no it did not. therefore fate does not exist. every choice you make does affect you but it doesnt effect your overall path of life. it may shut certain doors to you but it does not mean that there is such thing as fate.

Up to a point, as far as my arms can reach. So much will happen tomorrow beyond my control. I challenge to to predict all your events in the coming week. Remember, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

Yes and no. People make decisions, and those decisions lead to various consequences...but I think people make certain choices, and the outcome isn't what they expected/hoped for, and therefore they have no control.
