Transcend only provides with Win98SE driver cd along with 2.0 USB drives. You have to download the drivers in case of Kingston and Sandisk. As u r using still 98 not the 98SE it is most likely that your USB driver may not be a compatible one. So it will be better if u upgrade to a DVD burner instead, it will be a little high than a 3/4 GB USB drive.

You should be able to find one that works with 98. Read the fine print on the drive to see what OSes it'll work with.
Also, you might need to download driver files or install them from a CD in order to get the drive to work. Again, the fine print will tell you for sure.

I can sympathize, there is nothing wrong with 98. I have encountered the same issue as you. Attache' offers a 512MB USB stick that works fine on my 98se, I haven't checked their driver downloads, but I don't think they offer drivers for the original 98. Can't get anything bigger to work on mine than the 512. Wish you luck, I am going Mac soon.

Most are already. However... for win98 you need the drivers for the flash drive. Some manufacturers dont supply them anymore. So when searching look for one that comes with a win98 driver disk/CD. If htey are still available.
you might be able to find the driver on the manufacturers site.
also look at this, i just bought one because i ahd a spare laptop hard drive drive hanging around (but beware, if you have USB 1.1 you might need to find one that has a power adapter - research first.) but this product has a driver cd included. if you ahve USB 2 you can definatly use this oen as usb 2 supplies enough power to spin the drive.

there should be quite a few out there that should work but you will need to get one that has a driver for W98.
a check on google should tell you if there are the correct drivers availiable - but if you don't have a CD drive then you will need to download them before installing.

I believe that if you have all of the updates from the microsoft site, it is compatable with windows 98. You should chekc the manufactorer and see if you have the drivers needed installed.
Windows ME is the one that doesn't work with flash drives.

Don't buy anything for windows 98. Win98 is obsolete. Better off upgrading to winxp.
