tv is addicting. You get home from work, flip on the tube for a min just to wind down before you start 'your day' not at work working, then before you know it, its dark and time for bed...tv is evil..

I would ask how sports and TV contribute to the individual's development of virtue. Virtue, as Plato used the concept, is a set of human attributes that complete our unique potentials. I think that any time sports and TV takes from developing talents and attributes that can better fulfill our human potential is wasted. The ridiculous amounts of money that are payed to athletes as opposed to what we pay our teachers will be a good example of what I'm talking about.

Addiction to sports (playing them) is not a bad thing at all. You get tremendous exercise and training from sports. You will keep yourself healthy. TV is also not harmful in anyway. On the other hand, these things can be harmful if you neglect to do what's important. If you watch tv all day and don't do your homework, then it will affect your grades. But if you do all the important stuff first, you can watch tv and sports all you want and it will not harm you (depending on what you watch, of course).
