Try Birch oil mixed with a carrier oil. Jojoba oil works well, but any unscented lotion or cream will work. (The fewer synthetic material, the better). Just massage the blend over the area in pain. Birch oil has the same chemical make up as aspirin, but is completely natural! It is most effective being absorbed through the skin of the affected area and into the blood stream that way. This is what I would advise.
However, there are those who will tell you 2 drops in a tablespoon of honey can be taken by mouth. I don't know the effectiveness nor have I tried this myself, so I would not advise this.

Depends on what KIND of pain... Homeopathy is based on the idea of introducing very minuscule amounts of herbs that actually CAUSE the symptoms you are suffering because your body will "overcompensate" to counteract the symptom in question...

Acupuncture/pressure works for some.

Clove or peppermint oil (dilluted with a base oil,) is good for tooth/ear-aches.

Visualization/relaxation exersises (like those of EST,) can also be effective.

I use glucosamine and chondroiton for fibromyalgia (chronic diffuse pain at certain tender points), sciatica (sciatic nerve is longest nerve in body and is pinched), pinched nerves in neck and neck and back disc problems, and it really helps (though not a panacea, cure-all. I get the 'vitamin shoppe' brand that also has bromelain (substance from pineapples that is supposed to help with inflammation and digestion) and quercetin (antioxident also found in apples).

have you tried Aleve? That is naproxyn sodium, and sometimes a bit more effective than ibuprofen or tylenol.
