External USB flash drive is a pretty god idea except that at most you can only buy a 2GB maximum in the market now a days. Your computer will likely have much more than a few GB of info and that means, with a USB flashdrive, you will be at it for hours if not days.

If you have the money, get an external hard drive. I bought one for $170 with 200GB and it has a USB connection and very easy to use.

You first plug the external hard drive into your old computer and transfer the info from your old computer to your external hard drive. Then plug the external hard drive into your new computer and tranfer the files from your external hard drive to your new computer.

It should only take you 30 minutes at most for 150GB to transfer. The best part about this is that you will also have a back up for your files in your external hard drive after you have transfered the files to your new computer.

I don't know if you understand these terms, but they are actually quite simple ;-). You can print out my instructions and go to any computer store and the sale guy will understand what we are talking about.

Good luck.

Vista supposedly comes with a tools to help you move to it. The best program I have found is CA Desktop DNA... it moves everything you want. It can create a single exe to move to the new PC (and keep around for a backup) and afterwards gives you a remove option if you don't like what it copied.
Ther are others Aloha Bob PC Relocator, Intellamover, I forget the rest.

You can use a USB flashdrive and load all your files and info on there and then transfer it to the other PC.
