Hi, I know lined curtains keep the heat in, but i suffer from SADS and I need sunlight into the house in the winter when it is cold outside, What is the best way to let sunlight in and keep heat in ? Is there an expensive window that does this, ? i am outdated and also this house was built in 1981 with no updates ??? I am on a tight budget, but my heat is going out and I want to start somewhere, Hope this makes sense, from the rambling 56 year old dino :)

double pane, low-E glass, it's awesome! lets in light, keeps things warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer. i replaced my single pane glass, and got the low-E because they were on special that month. There are also gasses that can be used between the panes to keep even less temperature movement out, or in as the case may be. you could also consider doing one wall at a time, like the one with the most direct light first.

You can buy special window film. The film is clear and will allow the sunlight to shine through. They sell it at any home improvement store, or even walmart. I believe it is pretty inexpensive. Our house was built in the 60s with the original windows. We are going to be buying this film and doing almost all 19 of our windows. Last year our heating bill was insane. Good luck.

Put some kind of film over the window so that air won't escape through the cracks. If the sun is not in the window, close the drapes.
