If you have an HE Front Loader, there is a puddle of water left in the boot after washes. This can start to build up residues and mold/mildew. Well, this is what you need. Affresh gets under those residues and lifts them off using surfactant technologies. It will leave your clothes smelling better. http://www.apwagner.com/affresh.html

I had the same problem and then a friend of mine told me to add PINE SOL to the wash...I started using the lemon scented one (about 1/2 cup) with the detergent and when they were done, they smelled SUPER fresh.

Now I act like those crazy Fabreeze people in the commercials...I open the linen closet just so I can smell the lemons...lol...try it. It won't harm the fibers of the fabric and it will deodorize like you wouldn't believe!!

I wash ALL my laundry with about 1/3 C-1/2 cup of baking soda.. It helps the detergent work harder using LESS detergent ! It also is a natural deodorizer and stain fighter. It's also super cheap and has many other uses around the house. Give it a try !

I had the problem with the towels my son used because he would just throw them in a corner in his room when he was done with them..( they smelled musty)
What I did was wash them in hot water with a splash of ammonia...For the white towels I would add bleach instead of ammonia.
This is what work for me...

ADD I CUP OF WHITE VINEGAR TO THE LOAD, SOUNDS LIKE TOWELS LEFT IN TOO LONG. ALSO I HAVE FRONT LOADERS, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE WASHER DOOR OPEN SO THE THING DOESN'T SOUR AND MILDEW. IT IS SAFE FOR COLORS.

Try Borax....I use it on washcloths when they get that sour/stinky smell. Make sure you wash them in hot water as well.
