not much but if 99,999 more people donated that would be 800,000.00 or something

Think about this... your 80cents would buy one kid a candy bar. 10 people providing 80 cents could buy 24 kids a candy bar. 100 people providing 80 cents could buy 5000 kids a candy bar. In other words, enough people providing 80 cents a day could feed a lot of kids.

To see if this is true, just go to your supermarket and see how much it would cost you to just buy enough food to feed yourself for one day. Then go and see what it would cost to feed four people for one day.

No matter what, there are some good organizations that are feed impoverished kids all over the world, and giving a few dollars here and there to feed them is a good thing.

There will never be enough money to solve Africa's food problems but, 80 cents is better than 0 cents, particularly if given by a couple of million people.

The 80 cents doesn't go to one specific child.
All your donations of 80 cents, along with other generous gifts and grants, go toward supporting the food and education programs in Africa.
The programs spend the funding wisely in order to serve as many people as possible, and the get that 80 cents estimate by dividing the amount of funds spent on programs by the number of people aided per day.

It feels really good to donate, by the way. :)

I'm not sure, but I saw a show once on poverty in other countries and it's amazing what people can live on. They profiled a real family in India that lived in what was equal to $30.00 American dollars per month, and there were five of them! The didn't live well, but they had a roof over their head and food and clothes, and were one of the better off families in their town.

I would definitely contribute to anyone who helps the people in Africa. They need so much help over there, and their own government is too busy fighting for power to notice.

Somtimes money goes further in other countries not to mention when you have nothing to buy anything and you get something to buy some things. Anything will feed you. They are talking about basic foods. A couple of slices of bread some cheese and a few cups of milk or just a bowl of rice is a daily meal for some people. You have to remember when we consider eating we think about a well balanced meal.

i know i mean when you send the money they only get a portion of 80 cent the rest goes to a church or something and to the people who dont even need it that kind of stuff makes me so mad and really pisses me off they take all the money from the kids who really need it and in America all these people obese and kids having diabetes from eating too much food and being over weight and have to go diets at 4 years old when thousands of kids die every day from not eating i mean there i plenty of food in the world so no one should go hungry but they dont want to distribute it properly

Because the charities can buy in BULK thereby reducing the cost per serving. For a example consider this: A 5 pound bag of rice would cost $3.00 in a supermarket, cost wish that works out to be about $1.67 per pound of rice. Ok. Now let's say you get 20 servings from that one pound, that would make you cost per serving right around $.08. Now say you buy a 50 pound bag of rice for $9, price per pound would be $.18 per pound, and let's say 20 servings per pound, your cost per serving is now $.009.
Considering the math when buying in bulk to feed a lot of people it is very possible to feed a child for 80cents a day.

well it's 80 cents a day but if you take everyone else donating and all that, they put it into one lump sum and buy as much food as possible for everyone else, you're probably not the only one sponsoring that child or family or what not, and i dont believe that crap anyway, i bet you there is some major scam with that, you think those people are going to do that crap for free? no you have to accept jesus into your life and let christ be your savior in order to get that food that is worth .80 cents...to those kids they would accept anything just to get a bite out of anything...i just think its crap that they do that, if we all want to help then we need to have someone appointed to do such things and make sure that they do it ligitimatly, i wouldnt mind paying that if i had trust in those people...but unfortunately i dont!

I've never quite figured that out myself. I imagine that the American dollar must simply stretch incredibly far in certain parts of Africa.

Shoot... 80 cents in America buys what? Maybe 3 ramon noodles?

They use it to pay the commercials (TV ads - 300,000 minute) and the rest goes to pay the marketing guys. If something is left, they buy some moldy rice or wheat from USA surplus and send it to a rich guy in Africa for $0.80/cents 1lbs, who sells it to the poor for 80 cents/1/2 lbs.
