...or was there "something more" going on? They lived together, as many hetero men do, yes - but they also shared the same bedroom for a loooong time...

This is the big mystery on Sesame Street. Elmo and Zoe always ask their parents why Uncle Bert and Uncle Ernie don't have girlfriends. It's to the point where everyone knows but no one will publicly acknowledge it. Yet.

Ah dont go there. Why do people have to make something out of nothing with everything now? Bert and Ernie were friends. Just that. Yeah they shared a lot but they were in a one bedroom crib. *laughs* They shared a basement apartment in New York. Do you know the cost of living up there? I bet Bert was working and Ernie of course was drawing SSI (hes a nut ya'll in a good way). See now Im stupid. Come on, stop it. I think its just safer to just turn the tv and radio off and enjoy life without all the bull in it. So who's next? Big Bird and Snuffleupagus? Bert and Ernie were just the Odd Couple: Muppet Style. Remember the tv show My 3 Dads? Were they child molesters? Ya'll need to sotp playin.

Aaahhhhh!!!!!! Stop stop stop!!! I grew up watching Sesame Street and I found nothing wrong with Bert and Ernie sharing a bedroom or an apartment. It's all perfectly innocent I tell you! Okay, Mom needs to settle down now and go get a nice cup of tea......
Please leave Bert and Ernie alone.....

Come on Gypsy! Of course there was something going on. Bert and Ernie were the only gays on the street. Didn't you know? Really?

Let's just take a step back. They were puppets. Literally nothing going on there. A muppet version of Felix and Oscar, only with less clutter, and everything controlled by human puppeteers. Nothing going on except what's acceptable to parents and small children.

They were just cartoon Muppet characters for goodness sake. We shouldn't read any more than that into it.
