I just found out I'm pregnant, and I'm wondering about decaffeinated coffee, non alcoholic beer and wine. Does anyone drink these things? I have organic decaff, so it doesn't use all the chemicals. Do the non-alc stuff have any alcohol in them at all? I'm hoping not, b/c I think that would be a nice alternative once in a while.

Thanks for the input for those that can be respectful and rational. For all of you who have "tone" in your answer, re-read the question. Of course I can obstain from alcohol, my question was is non-alcoholic OK ONCE IN A WHILE! You all sound like saints, you must have perfect lives.

Yeah... I think I would worry more about the process of decaffination than the actual caffine.
As for non-alcoholic beer and wine, at least the USA and the EU, this means the beverage has less than 0.5% alcohol by volume. So there still can be trace amounts of alcohol, but you would have to drink a sixpack to equal the alcohol content of weak beer (most beer is in the 4%-6% ABV range, though it can as low as 3%, and as high as around 13%).
Now, whether that's a risk or not is not clear. There was a recent study that suggested that even a so-called "Near Beer" and its trace levels of alcohol can cause a relapse in an alcoholic.
There may also be some brands with no alcohol whatsoever, but this is not guaranteed by "Non-Alcoholic" labelling.

Non alcoholic, in my experience, means just that--no alcohol. A good nonalcoholic drink is virgin margarittas or strawberry daquiries. As for decaffeinated--there is no such thing whether it is coffee or soda ,organic or not, there is still caffeine in those coffee beans. As far as I know there is no alcohol in non-alcoholic beverages like virgin margaritas etc.
You can drink things with caffeine while pregnant. Just limit the amounts. You don't have to give up your coffee or sodas completely.
You can still enjoy an alcoholic beverage every now and then, just limit the drinks to 1 or 2 every other week or more. while you're pregnant.
While I was pregnant, I continued as I was b4. with no side affects. Only thing is I was not and still am not a drinker. I only drink a good margarita once or twice a year, so there were no problems with not drinking while I was pregnant. I hate the taste of the alcohol. and I have a weak stomach, and Donot like to vomit. I would rather have diahrea than the vomiting anyday. So morning sickness was esp. hard for me.
If you are unsure of anything, you can always call your doctor and leave a message with your ?'s. They or their nurses will call you back with the information you need.
Make sure you listen to your doc. about exercise, etc. and take the prenatal vitamins that he/she will most likely prescribe, even if you keep a very good diet. Remember, the new baby inside you will be stealing ( in a sense) all the nutrition that you take in and your body will need every thing that it can get.
Baby magazines like Parenting are a good source of information and can answer questions that you don't realize you have. You can get a pretty decent subscription price or just buy them at your local market.
Also, listen to your older lady friends, the ones with kids. They've been there, done that. and have experience with all the troubles that come along with having new babies.
Donot!! be afraid to ask for help with anything if you need it. Everyone loves to help new moms with new babies.
Donot take any kind of crap from snotty nurses when you are at the hospital or doc.s office. You are the reason they even have and job. So it is their job to take care of you, not the other way around.
Donot let them make you feel as if you are a moron. You are most likely new to this and probably won't know most of what will happen during and after your pregnancy.
And!! If your new baby gets colic, try goat's milk, only after having tried other formulas and you have found that your new baby still has colic. Goat's milk sound kinda gross, I know, but it is just as healthy and easy on the baby's tummy as formulas and works better. You just mix the goat's milk up just like the liquid formulas. It's also much cheaper...I'm a white woman who went through colic with 2 babies, so I know that the goat's milk will work..
Congrats! and have fun!!

Generally non-alcoholic beer and wine that you are able to buy from the supermarkets have 0% alcohol- They are just made to taste like their alcoholic counterparts.
*edit*- The 'beer' you buy from supermarkets states on the side that it is 'brewed soft drink', so 0% alcohol!
Since I was relatively young (12 or so) I have had a glass of sparkling 'Maison' (a brand of nonalcoholic wine) at Christmas etc when all of the adults are having a drink.
(For those of you who think that thats how young people develop drinking habits you are wrong, I'm now 21 and don't drink at all)
The nonalcoholic wines taste quite nice, not dissimilar to sparkling grape/ apple juice. I haven't tried nonalcoholic beer, though!
*edit*- I was in the supermarket today and noticed that there are 'nonalcoholic' wines, and 'dealcoholised' wines. The non-alcoholic wines state that they have as much alcohol in them as fruit juices, and in the dealcoholised wines there is 0.3 standard drinks in a whole bottle! So both are pretty safe!

You can have caffiene. My doctor explained to me a generous two cups of caffeine a day is fine. Just dont drink 5 sodas in one day and no water. Non alcoholic things are fine.
Those saying one glass of a wine a day is fine, well thats if your way past the first trimester. It's usually suggested only in the third trimester that if you have to have that glass of wine, just have one 8 oz or less of red wine a day. Some doctors agree some disagree. Congrats

Forget the wine and the non-alcoholic beer. Water is the best for you and decaf everything. Drink as if you were feeding your baby. I do not believe you would give non-alcoholic beer and wine to your baby.

Non alcoholic alternatives are considered ok, decaff also.
You can have a few caffinated drinks also, just don't overdo it. I drink about one cup of herbal tea (minor levels of caffeine) a day but I don't really drink any soft drinks like coca cola so you can choose where you spend your caffeine.
As long as the main fluid intake is from water, fruit juice, milk etc, you should be fine.

yeah you don't have to cut caffiene out 100%. and people have different opinions on alcohol during pregnancy (as far as how much you can have). i've heard 1 a day, 1 a week, etc. jus be careful because the NA beer does still have some alcohol in it (like .05% or something like that. it's hidden on the can).

Non alcoholic drinks have NO Alcohol, and DE caf is WASHED and usually has very little caffeine
I would suggest for the health of your baby,
DON'T USE EITHER,
Drink water and milk ,and juices with Low sugar and salt,
Certainly you could resist the desire for a mere 9 months
