With the way cable companies and corporations keep charging us for channels and wanting more money, do you ever see a time when the Superbowl, World Series, NBA Finals, NCAA Championships end up on pay per view?

I could see this happening someday and someday soon. Recently you have the Big 10 network charging for OSU games and the UFC which is gone way up in price to like $70 for a weekend fight.

What happened to free channels or subscription channels?

Some people have said they wont because they make money off commercials. Guess what, they could still ad commericals.

Also, 40 million tune into the Superbowl on average, times that by $50 a person.

2 Billion dollars. They are not making a billion dollars off commercials.

Mark my word, I could see this happening soon.

dude that would suck

NBA on NBC was there and then TNT and ESPN took away games and most of the playoffs...NBC used to show at least 50-60 games a year...now barely around 20 games a year on ABC

NBA ratings on TNT hasn't been the same ever since it left NBC

then Monday Night Football was taken away last year

this year the MLB playoffs was taken away from FOX and put on TBS

whats next?

college football, world series, NCAA tournament?

dude nowadays all these sports are sooo frickin addicted to money, they'll do anything and give the rights to the highest bidder....it sucks

sucking the passion out of people who can't afford cable

I don't think so. the super bowl charges more for ads than any other TV show because of the number of eyeballs. Reducing viewership through pay per view would reduce gross revenue and have a ripple effect of lowering their fan base with fewer people watching their championship

they will be loosing alot of money as corporations and sponsors pay millions to advertise during the event, pay per views dont have commercials and are usually aired by private cable companys.
