I am doing a project about child and adolescent suicide for one of my classes. For my presentation, I want to show a clip of a movie that has a suicide scene. Do you know any good movies for this? I would prefer a scene that shows child/adolescent suicide, although I realize that is probably rare to come by. Thanks!

The Suicide Circle (a Japanese film). That's about all I could find, besides what has been mentioned before. Heathers is murder dressed up to look like suicide and is a dark comedy. I don't know if it will help you or not.

There is a suicide scene in The Omen (the original and the remake), the nanny that kills herself for Damien. A really good movie that is about suicide, although, not teen/child suicide is called 'Night, Mother with Sissy Spacek and Ann Bancroft. At the beginning of the movie, Jessie (Ms. Spacke) tells her mother (Ms Bancroft) that she is going to kill herself that night when she goes to bed. The movie is about the mom trying to talk her daughter out of it. This movie is very thought provoking, even though it deals with middle aged woman wanting to end it all and not with a teen/child suicide.

The person who said Virgin Suicides is right. It's good. But I don't think it shows it though. A nice scene (if you can call it that) was from Royal Tenenbaums. Great soundtrack played over a chilling scene.

Where they're successful, or does it matter?

There is a movie called "Spanking the Monkey" (despite the title, it's a really good film although the subject matter is not for everyone) where the teen boy attempts to kill himself by hanging himself over the bathroom door. His mother manages to prevent this from happening, but it shows him choking and trying to die but not succeeding.

If you don't want to watch the actual film (it features incest primarily), fast forward to the end, hit play, and rewind. It's within the last 15-30 minutes of the movie.

the virgin suicides staring Kirsten Dunst. i think it was filmed in the late 90's and its about a family and the daughters (i think 4) are very overprotcted and sheltered, they get very depressed after the youngest sister commits suicide by jumping out her window and landing on a fence post (they show her on it, nasty scene) and then the other girls commit suicide by gasing them selves with car fumes in the garage.
hope i didnt wreck the film i told you so that you dont waste your time trying to find it and watch it if its not what your looking for. hope this helps (and its a creepy assignment)

Might be stretching the adolescence but there's the scene in Dead Poets Society (were those guys in high school or college? I can't remember)

In the beginning of The Rage: Carrie 2, a high school girl jumps (falls, really) from the roof of her high school.
In the beginning of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, the young female hitchhiker swallows a bullet (puts a gun in her mouth and shoots herself).

"Surviving" (1985) is a great t.v. movie that revolves around a teen couple that eventually commits suicide. It stars Molly Ringwald, Zach Gallagher, River Phoenix, and Heather O'Rourke. The weird thing about it is that two of it's young actors (Phoenix and O'Rourke) died eventually early untimely deaths.

There's a movie from 1988 called "Permanent Record." It's about a teen's suicide and the impact it has on his friends and classmates. Keanu Reeves is one of the stars. (He's not the suicidal boy.)
