The House has passed a revised version of a bill that would provide healthcare for low-income children.

But President Bush has the nerve to tell congressional Democrats to "stop wasting time."

President Bush must stop ignoring the needs of America's families. Eighty-one percent of Americans support the effort to give 10 million children health care.

For those how open there big yaps before doing there home work,,,,, The bill would be adjusted to factor in the cost of living expense when determining max. income guidelines. For a family of 4 living N.Y.N,Y.making $75,000 would be equal to a family of 4 living in Bloom Tennessee. Bush Is EVIL!!!!

Perhaps Congress should make him a deal. Mr. President you get your 45 billion for your little war if we get all we want on Schip. Since our program is cheaper and funded you should have no objection. You veto Schip you can start bringing out people home right away.

I don't know if I have an "answer" to this question - but it sickens me too. I do believe that funding does need to go to the troops in Iraq and Afghan (support the troops, not the Iraq war). But the amount of money that would go to the healthcare situation is a drop in the bucket in comparison. I think that dubya is afraid of socialized healthcare, which could lead to further socialism. I don't agree with him, but that's what it seems like to me. I think we need something like this, because the insurance companies keep getting richer while they are driving up the costs of healthcare. For instance, a small check up without insurance at my doctor would cost around 80 dollars if I had no insurance. However, if I provided an insurance card, they would charge the insurance co. around 400 dollars to recoup the 80 dollars they would charge me.

A $0.61/pack increase in the Federal tax on cigarettes is the real agenda here. The children's healthcare is just a way to make it palatable.

If Congress wants to fund it, they ought to earmark some of the money that is being squandered every day in Iraq.

As for clueless George, he ought to be impeached but I'm with him on this one...

It's a worthless bill that would allow healthcare to not low-income children but to children whose family makes up to 82 thousand a year and "children" up to 25 years old.

It was worthless the first time Bush vetoed it, and it's worthless now. Bush told them to not waster his or their time trying to pass it again.

How about reaching out to the 5.5 million children that are ALREADY eligible but for some reason not signed up.

It is incomprehensible why Bush is wasting time and effort taking an adversarial stand on this particular issue. He can’t fool anyone into thinking that he is suddenly practicing fiscal responsibility. He must be trying to drive his approval rating even lower for reasons known only to him.

He isn't wasting time. He clearly said the bill would provide too much support to families who already had children receiving healthcare. He wants to make sure that we are giving out this "free" healthcare to the right people. Just not people who are going to drop their kids off their healthcare and then have the govt pay for them.

And as a tax paying american, I'm tired of paying for other people. It's getting out of control. Everyone wants a paycheck. These "low income children" are living with parents who are already collecting a free check. I feel so sorry for these children but I'm fed up with people not working!

President Bush needs to do like he said he would, and sit down with Congress to draw up a Bill agreeable to both sides so this can get resolved.

Democrats are "wasting time" because Bush already promissed to veto the bill, again. Also, Democrats know they don't have the votes to overide the veto.

Maybe the democrats should try something else that is worth passing, and their approval numbers might improve past 11%.
