Come on guys it was well close to the 7/7 bombs and the police were on edge and suspected everyone at the time, those men did nothing wrong, they followed orders....ok they got the wrong man but say they got the right man would their be this hoopla then??? To play devils advocate, the failings with the killing of J.CdM were scandalous to say the least. Under the law, no individual can be prosecuted, but surely someone should take overall responsibility. Imagine if it was your son or daughter, brother or sister who had been grabbed and then shot at close range. The firearms officers whilst not only being AWOL for the beginning of the operation, didn't even know who the surveillance officers were for Gods sake.
To be honest I was indifferent towards the whole case, but on seeing the failings on the BBC website (see link below) I was more than a little surprised.
Whether Blair should resign I don't know, but someone has to be accountable for the death of an innocent person, otherwise it could happen again and again.
However open season on BNP voters wouldn't do any harm.

Have to agree with carqueen above. He has continually proved to be incompetent in the role of Met Chief and I'm afraid that shooting dead an innocent man, regardless of whether he was here illegally or not, is just not acceptable and somebody must pay the price for this. I completely agree that we should all be supporting the police in the 'war on terror', but let's not reach a point where an innocent man can be shot dead in the head six times on the streets of London and no-one takes the blame. How is that going to help instill confidence in our police force???

I already vote BNP. There are a lot of arguments for and against this case.
I think that, if he had been a terrorist, he would have been hailed a hero. If he was not shot and it turned out that he killed 100 people, he would have been well slated. They are in a no win situation.

I wonder how many of those criticising the police would run in the opposite direction screaming if faced with a potential suicide bomber.
The police made mistakes and hopefully will learn from them but it's hardly surprising they weren't full prepared for suicide bombings before 7/7.

I thought you guys had all left on the Mayflower, and invaded Texas. If your going to stay you'd better learn about the rule of law. And as for the BNP, well I just dare them to come canvas at my door.

They can only replace him with someone who is either perfect, which is impossible. Or someone who takes chances with our safety.

Can't agree with you I'm afraid. The buck has to stop somewhere. Have you read about this case in any great detail? I'm not even going to bother replying to your last comment.
