Hi everyone. I am searching for diotomaceous earth. It is used as a bug control product, but is green/health based (no chemicals). I found a flea on my Yorkie the other day and I'm panicking. I work in the downtown core of Toronto (york/king) and am hoping someone knows somewhere within walking distance of here that sells this stuff. Or, in the durham region (i live in Courtice, just east of Oshawa). I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks!

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS GUYS, but I need this stuff in the TORONTO area - Toronto Ontario Canada. Perma-Guard is only available in the US, as is the other link. Thank!

Okay well first off avoid the pool grade diotomaceous earth. It is different from the animal grade and is not safe for animals. So you can't go shopping at a hard ware store. I regularly use diotomaceous earth to control insects on my chickens. It works great. I usually order on line from here:

Oh boy. What's your definition of "nice"? Jarvis and Gerrard. Tricky, tricky, tricky. That would put you basically smack in between the gay village and the homeless/crackpot area of town. Yes, it does happen to be a short 10 minute walk from downtown's niceties, but it's not exactly the kind of area you'd want to raise a kid for example, at least not for too long anyway. In that area you are surrounded by several agencies that help troubled youth, recent immigrants, drug addicts, etc. The main intersection of the gay community is Church and Wellesley, one block west, and a couple blocks north from where you might be at. The main intersection of the poverty-stricken drug community is Dundas and Parliament, one block south, and two blocks east of you. This area would be perfect if you're gay, want to help homeless people, and want to be close to the downtown shops. Oh, and the other poster has a good point about the gay area being nice, but really, how often can you spend at gay bars and restaurants, because other than that, there's not much there. Yes, it's nice at Gay Pride time, and it can be fun from time to time, but do you want to make it your home? Anyway, Gerrard is at the southmost part of that area, so it's not like you're particularly benefitting by looking out on the colourful Church street, because you likely won't see it from your apartment.

No need to panic, just get some proper treatment - Diatomaceous Earth is NOT proper flea treatment. Also, it must NOT be applied to animals, it's very abrasive and would be quite painful, as well as useless.
Please go to a vet, any vets, to get some proper treatment - Frontline, Advantage or Revolution for your dog, and a PROPER spray for your house - don't be fooled by all this old talk about diatomaceous earth, salt or borax or whatever else people go on about.

Buy online. Make sure you get Perma Guard (food grade or insecticial), not all diatomaceous earth is safe...avoid pool grade. Other brands may have harmful additives. You may already know this but just in case, hope this is helpful.

There's a home improvement store called Lowe's that is just opening stores in the Toronto area and they carry it 'cause that's where I got mine. I use it to stop ants.
