I have a cub cadet 1042 riding lawnmower and I can't get it to start. It will turn over when I Turn the key but it just wont start. I've been using a battery charger to help it turn over. I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, gas and spark plug. It still wont fire up. Is there a fuse or something inline to the spark plug that could be causing this? Any suggestions? Thanks

OK I cleaned out the fuel lines I wasn't able to blow air into the port where the gas line goes into the carb, Not sure If I should be able to. I checked for voltage on the cylinder under the carb, I have no Idea what it does but it does get voltage. I ran a 12v wire to it and it clicks when the 12v source is connected to it. I don't know if this is what it is supposed to do. the spark plug is making a spark and it gets a little wet when I try to start it. It may not be getting enough fuel so I will put half a straws worth of fuel down the carb.. and post results later..

thanks

Using a battery charger to help it turn over isn't going to help you start the mower.. You would be surprised to find out that it's the battery that needs to be replaced or there is no power from the battery because the posts on the battery need to be cleaned to get power to your starter. Take your electrical meter and test the DC volts of the battery before you take it out to replace, that will also give you an answer to help resolve your problems.

I am not agree with Papaw answer...! You are here to assist folks with answers not to tell them to go and spend money with the money hungry techs....! Look for a 25 amps fuse located on the hot wire to the battery usually behind the seat. Other tips to look are deck and steering sensors out of adjustment and not making contact. Cub Cadet must have also a sensor on the manual brake handle. Also have a safety switch under the seat. I hope these tips will do for you, otherwise you must take that lawn mower to one of those money hungry lawn equipment techs like Papaw said...! Good luck....!

Make sure you're getting gas to the carberater. Have you tried spraying starter fluid in there or putting a little gas in the cyclinder? You may need to clean out the carberater needle, too. It just sounds like you're not getting fuel in there.

pull a plug wire off and hold it close to the plug while someone cranks the engine you should be able to see an electrical arc if its arcing try putting a small amount of gas down the throat of the carb and then crank the engine.

Check for spark while your cranking it. If it has spark it is most likely a fuel issue. If it doesn't I would suspect the ignition module or the ground wire from the ignition module.
