You can just make up an invoice number if you don't want to start with 1.

You are free to make the beginning number anything you want. My advice to you is think of a numbering system that will work in the future when your business becomes a great success. For example: My plumbing repair business invoices started out with pre-formed invoices with random numbers. As my business grew bigger, I created a coded system that tells me the date/year/job# for easy referencing and security. 07RR001 might be translated into a job that was done in 2007 as a residential repair.

I don't ever recall getting an invoice with the number 1 on it. Start with what ever number you want. You could start with 101.

Generally I never started with the number 1 due to credibility, but depending on the type of business you are operating it doesn't matter. Start with 1000, is a good general starting point.

Start with 1: It's easier to keep track of your information. But if you're worried about appearances, you might start with something like 0001.

Good luck with your business!

just use the date ending in 0001. 1102070001. it wont be an issue unless you start doing 10K jobs a day...

then its easier to track...
