how to tell if platnium is real?

my boyfriend has a disc that he thinks is platnium and im not so sure any tips?

IF he thinks it is pure platinum, the easiest thing to do would be to determine its density. You can measure its mass on a sensitive balance, and the determine its volume, either by measuring it accurately and calculating it, or by submerging it in water. Then, you can calculate its density, and compare that to the actual density of platinum which you should be able to find online.
