I know this is a random question, but I ask it anyway. My understanding is that food is eaten with the right hand. What does one do if they are left handed?

Do you know that was my first question when I decided to revert to Islam. I am left handed and somewhere along the line I had heard that left handed people could not be accepted by Islam.
Due to the right hand being used for this and left hand for that thing.
I hadn't even noticed that my brother in law is left handed. Yeah, I can be a bit slow at times!
When I asked I was told it is acceptable and that Allah swt in his wisdom and grace will accept that this is something that is not under your control or of your making.
I do try and make a special effort to use my right hand when I am eating at a restaurant or we are attending some dinner or wedding. Just not to draw attention to myself, but there is no real reason that I should do this or feel embarrassed by the fact that I am left handed.
As that is how Allah swt in his wisdom made me to be born.

It is preferred to eat with the right hand which I, as a left-handed person learned to do as an adult convert. I would caution you that some Muslims, esp. from the Gulf countries, would take offense if they see a person eating from their left hand or even passing things, including non-food items, to them with their left hands. The 2nd khalifa, Omar, is reported to have been left-handed and it is not really considered a bad omen or anything. It's just a matter of eating and cleaning where the use of particular hands is an issue.

Nothing wrong at all with them.
Islam has a very nice logic. The prophet advised people to use the right hand in cases like eating and left hand for something like dealing with dirt. All of that is just advices and it's not that important or basics.

There is no rule in Islam forbids left handed persons to use their left hand in doing their things or eating with it. It is just preferred that the Muslim eats by using his right hand as kind of blessings and avoid being described with the word ((left)) that has cursed meaning in the Qur'an. The sincere and real Muslim will remain so, even if he used his left hand for doing his things including eating food because that will not cause deficiency to his faith and worship to Allah.

From what I understand, as long as a person has a functional right hand, then they should eat with their right hand.

Besides, it's good to practice using both hands - many times I've sprained a finger or hurt my right hand(I'm right handed) and I was forced to use my left hand.

No problem!
But you know Islam put rules to the socity to be organized. For example: it is prefered to Muslims to clean themselves ( in W.C ) with their left hand & to eat with their right hand . But if they can't, it is not a sin.

It is up to the people to chose what is best for them.
You don't always have to eat or do something with
the right, people just prefer to use their right hand.

nothing dear,it is how he was born and he can't help it...even it's preferable to use the right hand at almost everything but if the person is naturally left-handed..then Islam is for our ease and for our comfort....
Allah is the most forgiving and he never asked us more than we can bare...

You have to eat with your left hand( They claim Iblis eats with his left hand) and if you wipe your butt with your right hand, you have to switch to your left hand, no matter how difficult you find it.
