Im doing some research in Malaysia. One table description is like this:
P: Peninsular Malaysia
E: East Coast Peninsular Malaysia
W: West Coast Peninsular Malaysia
Sb: Sabah
Sk: Sarawak
So, one thing I dont understand is : in this description, where are the areas of P? I think it doesnt contain east and west coast. So where does it refer to?

I think it doesnt contain E&W coast because they are listed separately. If they are included, why they have to be pointed out separately

Generally when we describe Malaysia, it's consists of Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak (as East Malaysia)
But to further describe peninsular Malaysia which covers from Perlis to Johor including all islands like Langkawi, Tioman until Pulau Besar, we also explain the east coast of Malaysia which is E and the west coast of Msia which is W.
Here W is from Perlis to Johor (generally) and E is from Kelantan to Pahang.
Dont confuse East Malaysia with East Coast of Malaysia because East Malaysia is refering to Sabah and Sarawak.
Good day!

P contains E & W.
Penisular Malaysia is, as it states, the penisula portion of Malaysia which contains the states of Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor, Perak, Trengganu, Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Melaka, Pulau Pinang & the Federal Territories of Putra Jaya & Kuala Lumpur.
The "East Coast Peninsular Malaysia" & "West Coast Peninsular Malaysia" are the East & West Coasts of the Peninusla or (P).
Sabah (Sb) & Sarawak (Sk) and the Federal Territory of Labuan are often refered to as "East Malaysia" & are on their own island (Borneo Island) which is shared between Indonesia & Brunei.
Hope this helps you .
Cheers

The area of P should be referring to the capital: Kuala Lumpur and the states of Selangor & Pahang. But i think that the area of P should include the are of E & W, since they both state that they are the East Coast & West Coast of Malaysia.

Peninsular means the whole West Malaysia (the one with sweet potato shape), from the top Perlis to Johor. Sabah and Sarawak belongs to the East M'sia.
So when you wanna find the east and west coast, take the sweet potato shape M'sia and divide them to east and west.
The states under westcoast are Perak, Johor, Penang, Kedah...
The states of eastcoast are Terengganu, Kelantan etc...
