i moved in two years ago and put lining paper over rough walls and painted it white. Being honest, it turned out to be a disaser. i would like to tile the kitchen and make it alot tidier. Instead of me scraping the lining paper off, is it possible to tile on lining paper?

A type of question I so often answer. CAN YOU? Certainly. SHOULD YOU? No. As you can see most or all of these answers pretty much say the same thing.

Without knowing at all, how you define "rough" and without any detail about how extensive you want the tile to be; or specifically where; you could install 1/4 concrete backer board and tile over.

No. I would not advise this at all. The tiles will not adhere properly. Scrape off the paper .

If they were mesh mounted and you can see the color of the paper through them, then you could see the mesh through them also. I am assuming you mean mesh on the back, left in place. If you mean mesh on the front, then getting the mesh off without pulling some the little tile pieces off would be a battle of the adhesives.

not recomended the weight of the tiles will probably pull the paper off.

You certainly could but i wouldn't recommend it unless you want to see the tiles all over the floor one day.

well it's possible, but you will eventually regret it as the tiles will probably fall off bringing the backing paper with them.

No,you will have to scrape it off for the grout to stick to the wall.

IF you do it will end in tears.
you need to remove the paper to let the grout have a good bond

Yeah! Of course - if you want to come home one day and find them all over the floor.

Stop being lazy and do it properly

Don't be lazy, strip it! It might peel off with the weight!
