I ran disk cleanup on my computer. It recomended things to get rid of. Example compressed old files. I got rid of those. My question it also recomended getting rid of temporary internet files should i go ahead and get rid of those to?

Yes... Its just cached images and other web stuff that downloads when you visit websites

The Temporary Internet Files (or cache) folder contains Web page content that is stored on your hard disk for quick viewing. This cache permits Internet Explorer or MSN Explorer to download only the content that has changed since you last viewed a Web page, instead of downloading all the content for a page every time it is displayed.

Deleting those file will not harm your computer.

Yes, they are temporary cached files, they build as you surf the web, clearing them will cause no problem, will free up some extra space.
