So I had my period three times in july and I had no period for the month of august or september. I went to the OB in september and I had a pap and a pregnancy test and it came out negative. that was on the 15th of september I started the patch on the 16th of september. I got my period from oct 19th through the 27th it was a normal period with clots and everything. It was also heavy. Yesterday I felt a little weird so I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. When and how did I get pregnant if on birth control and with a period?

well if you've had sex then there could be a chance you're pregnant. But otherwise it could just be the effect of the patch throwing your hormones into wack or something. If you're at all concerned just give your doc a little ring and just ask is it normal. He'll either say yes or no.

Good luck

Seeing how you just went on the patch it could be a false positive. Also its not unusally when trying a new birth control method for there to be spotty bleading until your body gets use to it. Finally birth control isn't 100 percent also certain drugs can lower the numbers either more. My advice would be this. Call ob/gyn ask her to run a blood test to see if your are really pregnant.

im not sure about this one it seems unusual to have a heavy period right b4 a positive pregnancy result but it can happen some woman can have periods as normal when pregnant, rare i'd have thought tho.

Hmmm....and you are sure it was POSITIVE? I would retake the test....and if it is positive you are gonna be a momma, I hope you keep your baby and not abort him/her.....GOD gives us what he wants us to have.....I believe that....oh and NONE of my babies were "planned" but what a wonderful surprise!
