It doesn't involve "joy" or "goodness" at all.

Accepting life on its own terms means living without bias... ridding yourself of the fallacies of "good" and "bad" ... and simply regarding all things as equal.

To accept everything as it comes is a clear formula for stable peace and happiness, but it is the most difficult one to practice, because our ego wouldn't let us. Our ego forces us to judge everything in terms of favorable or otherwise and thereby decide what to accept and what not to... then it makes us try change whatever is judged as unacceptable and this invariably leads to unhappiness and breach of inner peace. Enforcing our own terms on our life is the prime cause for all the stress, worry and dissatisfaction.

Living life on its own terms means that you accept life for what it is. You accept that things aren't always as you think they should be and make adjustments accordingly.
