You should definitely look at Spiral (http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=341 ) and maybe give Moster (http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=19 ) a shot. And if you liked Death Note, you can try Code Geass (http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=1575 ), too. Although Code Geass isn't about an investigation, it is eerily similar to Death Note, and it is all about manipulation and strategic moving against an overwhelming adversary.
