I started smoking cigerettes at the age of 14 until the age of 16, i also smoked cannabis from 14 until a year ago when i was 18. I found with both that no matter how many things you use, various methods like chewing gum or drinking water, nothing helped me stop more than outright willpower. As soon as i told myself that i was damaging my body and gave myself goals to work towards like getting fit again, it was easy, I kept my mind busy doing activities and even on nights out when there was agreat temptation for both i just told myself that if i did i would regret it the next day and used that to get me through. I once heard a recovering heroin addict say that getting over his addiction wasn't about saying he'd never do it again, but instead taking every day one at a time and staying clean a day at a time. If you look at it like that its as easy as pie.

Are you kidding. Why are you smoking in the first place!? Quit now while you are young so you won't get as many side effects as you would if you were older.

The longer you smoke, the harder it will be to quit. With every puff you take you are putting dangerous, toxins into your lungs and also into the lungs of those around you. Smokers do not realize how bad it stinks. It makes your hair and clothes stink, and it makes your breath stink. Also, after many years of smoking, it can turn your fingers yellow. It is nasty and revolting on every level (and I use to smoke) so I can say this.

17 is old enough to make your own decisions.
You know what everyone says about smoking and you are aware that there can be dangers. There are plenty of people who get cancer who never smoked - and plenty who smoke who never get cancer.
The real question is - do you WANT to quit smoking? Is it your idea, or are you being influenced by others.
If it's your desire to quit, no better time than today.
If you are being pushed by political correctness, you might want to think about what YOU want.

If you don't want the quit bad enough you'll probably start back. My bf has been trying and made it a day and a half. He's so pissed cause I quit and he "can't". I really just think he doesn't want it bad enough but I also think he has pneumonia. I got it twice before I quit.
