My Side of the Mountain. The first two Potter's, and maybe the third. Bit young for Enders Game, but get it and keep it till he is 13 or 14.
Oh, and the original J.M. Barrie version of Peter Pan. From memory, it's fantastic! I can remember borrowing it as a 14 year old and loving it, despite my embarrassment, as I viewed it as a "little kids" book, and I'd been in the "adult" section since 12. Should be fine for your 10 year old, but it's not the Disney version.

Try the "Just!" series by Andy Griffiths.
I used to read them when i was around 11. Those books are entertaining and fun for that age group. Yes, i am a girl, but those books are for both boys and girls (but mostly boys i think..)
egs include Just! Annoying, Just Crazy, Just Stupid
=] I really enjoyed reading these!!

"Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls was one of my favorites growing up. Also, Gary Paulson writes coming - of - age - type stories that many boys enjoy. My favorite by Paulson is "Hatchet". The best way I've found to find interesting books for adolescents is to check out web sites from colleges, specifically dealing with adolescent or children's literature. There is no shortage of ideas for books for young people in this area.

the Horrible History series by Terry Deary is good. They are packed full of knowledge but written in a fictious and humorous way, with quizzes, games, etc...there are many titles on different historical topics to choose from in this series.

the Molly Moon series by Georgia Byng might also appeal to him. fast-paced fantasy for kids^^
