I think A+D was written first - but I read them the other - I didn't even finish A+D because I thought it to be a pile of poo......
DVC was amusing but again a piece of cr*p - Highly over-rated.... It was like fiction for the brain-dead....... Especially that bit with the blindingly obvious reversed writing.............

Funny thing is I learned about the Gnostic Gospels of Thomas and all of this "secret" stuff years ago in the church history module of my degree at university... Just because it's not general knowledge doesn't mean it was kept secret............ Pick up any decent early church history books and they tell you all about it

I started to read Da Vinci Code but found it boring. My husband has read all Dan Brown's books and has loved all of them.

I read them both, and because A+D was written first, I thought DVC was the crappy one!! I read them in the wrong order too, but I still though A+D was better.
I think to be honest, that all Dan Brown's books have the same story in a different circumstance - and yes I have read them all, the one with the biggest 'difference' was Digital Fortress.
If you like the genre but not these books, try The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne. It's very good, as has a much more interesting underlying mystery that's truly held out until the end successfully! :)

I've read them both, having read Da Vinci Code first. Loved it and hated Angels and Demons, but did not feel like they were the same book at all. If A&D had been as good as the Da Vinci Code I would not have been disappointed. And, unusual for me, I thought both the book and movie were great. Usually I'm disappointed in one or the other.

I read Da Vinci first, then tried to read Angels and Demons but as you say I felt like I was reading the same book, all very similar. I think that A+D was written first though.

I totally agree. I thought the books were written to a formula. Both vastly over-rated, not very well written and Da Vinci code was badly researched and overlooked glaring contradictions.
I wouldn't and couldn't recommend Dan Brown to anyone as good read.

I get that. But I think Demons was a prequel to the DA Vinci. I liked them both very much..I prefered the book to the movie, although Tom Hanks is wonderful..

Read The Da Vinci Code and loved it. Haven't read Angels and Demons, but my brother said he couldn't finish it because it was too difficult a read.

I thought Angels and Demons (written first) was a MUCH better book than DVC, and would have made (well, apparently now it would be WILL make) a better movie that DVC.

I have read both.
I read Da Vinci Code first and could NOT follow it, as the plot jumped every where. And was a load of rubbish.
In my opinion Angels and Demons was a MUCH better read, I could follow the plot. And have read it again as I enjoyed it so much.

I've read DVC, but haven't yet read A&D - partly because every time I dip into it, I do get the idea I'm reading the same plot with different characters. Glad it's not just me!
