Yes! I've had people in mini-skirt or shorts & tshirt ask me if I wasn't cold while I was wearing long pants and coat... I've had people tell me they were afraid for me getting hurt on my way home from work while I walked to the train station through a nice residential neighborhood and they had to go by car through the fog (and it happens to be one of the worst highways for accidents nation-wide)... And indeed so many people are afraid bare feet are going to spread germs and disease, while really there's no germs going to jump off bare feet any more than off shoe soles, and we're all touching everything with our hands!
The worst has to be people who argue for banning bare feet 'for safety reasons', either in stores or while driving, while they're fine with high heels, platform shoes, loose slippers and flipflops... Fortunately here in the Netherlands I've never even *seen* a 'no shoes, no shirts, no service' sign but I've heard the weirdest things from US barefooters.. someone who was told explicitly to put his *FLIPFLOPS* on *because something might DROP ONTO his foot* -must be a very special flipflop to provide protection from that! And for a very bad example look up the 'why is driving barefoot illegal' thread from a few days ago.... driving barefoot is NOT illegal (see source) but almost all answerers came up with all kinds of reasons justifying a law that doesn't even exist, while the one person above me who provided a link in the source proving no laws existed got a load of thumbs-down.
