My First Boyfriend was my first everything, kiss, sex, love everything. He gave me a beautiful diamond ring with 19 stones in it that his father made before he passed away. its been 10 years and I still have it. I could never give it away or sell it. He also gave me a Snowglobe with a ballerina Inside cause I used to teach Dance and Ballet. It plays a song I have never heard before and I still dont have the heart to get rid of that either. :) We are still friends and talk and see eachother often and I am so glad he was my first everything, He is the sweetest guy ever to this day. (Thanks, Georgie!! )

The only gift my ex gave me was leaving. He was a self centered, controlling jerk, I just didn't see it. I'm grateful for that gift, because if he hadn't we would have gotten married 3 months later and I would either be divorced or miserable instead of with my husband now. He is my best friend and I thank God every day that I didn't end up with the first loser.

I have never thought about it but it is a good question. I guess the ones we save are the ones that remind us MOST of things that were good in the relationship. And no matter how much one moves on-I think you always hold on to the good of a relationship. It's funny, the most meaningful things are sometimes the smallest, insignificant looking things-but for the person it's what they represent.

It's just because it reminds you of a happy time with someone who cared about you. Seeing the gift puts you back in that place in time for a moment, and thus the feeling you had when you received it. In most cases it's not about the person who gave it to you, but the 'feel-good' stuff your brain gives you when having a happy memory.

No I don't at all, I have jewellery from my ex, I don't think about the fact that it's from him because it's mine now and the past is the past!

No, because if they are an ex, the gifts they have given me have lost all significance.

Actually haven't found any that are precious to me and only one (a watch) has been of any use.

They represent better times and so they have sentimental value to you. There is nothing wrong in that. You had a loving relationship at one time and it is nice to look back and remember that. Doesn't mean it well work if you got back together it just means there is history there.
