It is a very bad thing. When you take someone for granted you do not love them. You love what they do for you, but not the person themselves. An example of taking someone for granted would be a husband who takes for granted that dinner is always cooked, and clothes are always washed. They never say thank you, or appreciate the hard work it takes to raise a family. That is not fair at all to the wife. Also, the wife could not love her husband, only like the money he brings in, and does not see him as a partner, but as a walking, talking, paycheck! This is not right either. People in a relationship have the right to be with someone who loves them no matter how much money they make, or how good of a housekeeper they are.

It's a bad thing to take your spouse for granted. That means that you relish in the things they do for you and never help them out or do anything for them. You avoid this by always considering your spouse when you do certain things like make plans or helping eachother with certain projects they're working on whether it be cleaning the house up on the weekend or redecorating a room. You should be equals in your relationship and do what you can for the other.

It's a very bad thing...it means that you are acting in a way that indicates to the other person that you think that they will always be around regardless of how you act so you don't feel the need to be appreciative of their presence.

If you don't want to take him/her for granted say thank you for little things, no matter how small...and don't forget to praise the other person for just being themselves....and never ever stop dating your spouse..take them out once a week for a fun time.

It is a bad thing because some day someone is going to come along and appreciate them and they will say bye bye. You have to always respect your spouse and always expect the same for yourself. If they can't do it then it is time for counseling or court... If there is children then you must make sure they learn what a good relationship is, other wise the behavior continues in their lives when they are grown..

Taking someone for granted means that you assume a person will always be there for you, or do certain things for you or behave a certain way. Just don't always assume. Ask if there's something you can do or how you can help.

To avoid it, one must simply put their foot down and raise so much hell that the other will know better than to ever try that again.
