There is a debate at work and and Mgmt says the employees should "eat" the hour, the workers say, No, an hour is an hour and we want to be compensated.

How does it work where you are?

In my office the folks working night shift during the time change do indeed get paid for the extra hour. The nice thing is in the spring, they do not get shorted the hour for working less time. It is a win win for them.

I have worked 3rd shift for years and have always gotten paid the extra hour. I get paid an hour short when they move the clocks forward, and I only work seven hours.

I waitressed and bartended for years. Daylight savings night, Saturday night shift at 2 in the morning, our clocks went back to 1:00, and we kept on working. And making money. I don't know about factory workers or other "night workers" but in the bar, that's how it was.

You know, that is a good question but it has never come up where I work because we do not run a weekend shift. I wonder if there is precedent for that somewhere.

At the hospital I work at we get paid for the one time change and shorted for the other.
