Weather is the atmospheric reaction to an imbalance of energy, and it's subsequent attempt to restore that balance. Clouds, precipitation, wind, etc... are all a result of this constant effort to restore energy balance.

Uneven surface heating. The Earth is tilted and that is why we have the uneven heating and seasons. The Earth is always trying to cool it self off. Warm air is drawn up from the equator to the poles and cool air is drawn from the poles to the equator. This is what causes weather.
