Define cool?
For a laptop for school you should be more interested in reliability and ruggedness than coolness, a cool laptop may impress your friends (a little bit more than a good one) but having it break down constantly will probably be enough to make you wish you had something crap looking.
You also don't want something too big, screen should be no bigger than 15.4" and ideally should be around the 14" area for a laptop for school, laptops with 17" screens are just too big to carry around all day.

depends on cool, and why do you need to make a statement with you laptop. How about getting one you can afford and that does what you need it to do? That seems to be cooler than some off the wall color of the laptop.
