If Barry Bonds has an asterik put on his record breaking baseball at Cooperstown then shouldn't they do the same thing to Mark McGwires' record breaking baseball also? Take into account that McGwire admitted to taking 'growth hormones' but only AFTER he had his spot in Cooperstown.

Who really cares.....whats done is done. Both of them have already had their names and careers shhamed enough. Why do we have to go around rubbing their noses in it. Punish the guys that get caught by the testing policy. If you do not fail a drug test, no asterisk needed. I believe that Bonds took 'roids and new it.....but its not about what I think.....prove it!

1. The Hall isn't defacing the Bonds ball; it has stated, however, that it would accept the ball in a defaced state. The Hall Museum is charged with telling the story of baseball, and the ball brings a story of its own.

2. The Hall Museum does not have McGwire's 70th home run ball. Todd McFarlane still does, far as I know.

3. McGwire, during the 1998 season, acknowledged that he was taking androstenedione, which at the time was completely legal both within MLB and under US law, for those who fuss over such details. It is a testosterone precursor.

4. McGwire does not have a "place" in Cooperstown. His first Hall ballot was 2007, wherein he received 23.5% (or some amount very close to that) from the writers, well short of the 75% minimum needed for induction.

5. Two wrongs don't make a right. In fact, one wrong should be more than sufficient to learn lessons and change direction. Defacing the Bonds ball, as publicly kneejerk satisfying it may be to many boors, gives neither license nor endorsement to repeat such nonsense with other artifacts. The point, irrelevant though it is, is made.

They should put an asterisk on McGwire's baseball as well, even though, McGwire doesn't have the record anymore, since Bonds broke it.

The Hall did not put the asterisk on Bonds ball, the buyer did. Then donated the ball to the Hall. The Hall would have never considered putting the asterisk on that ball or any other. McGwire is not in Cooperston yet.

I agree 100% that McGwire deserves whatever he gets. Niether one really had the balls to admit that they took it. McGwire is not in the hall of fame right now, because of his non-admission that was a clear admission.

Honestly, I hope that Bonds will just retire, they can put him in the hall, because he deserves it for his pre-enormous head days.

Then, maybe he will just go away.

No. Mark McGwire only took the growth hormone because he was concerned that he wasn't tall enough, and the other kids were making fun of him.

Of course there should be an asterisk! They are all cheaters and it should be said outloud!!!

McGwire is not in the hall yet. Also he admitted to taking Creatine (spelling?) not HGH or other Roids. Barry is not guilty yet, but no voter will put him in for the same reasons as Pete Rose ... they are both ******* and people dont like them!
