You can buy it in the market (next to the fruit and veg market) in Bevervijk, I can remember seeing it when I was there a few years ago but I cannot remember the Dutch name, sorry.

Why do you want to be bothered buying syrup in Holland. It is not any better than in any other country, and what a mess if it happens to open in your suitcase . Just buy some good chocolate or cheese. Sorry to be so negative about maple syrup.

The most common syrup you'll find is just called "stroop" (pronounced STROPE), and it's like maple syrup only a bit thicker. They probably have a special "Maple" syrup too if you look a bit.

Maple is esdoorn.
But if u wanna have sirop for instance to use on pancakes just bij. Pannekoeken stroop. or schenkstroop wich has the same texture van glse is a good brand (http://www.dcimports.com/vangilschens.html)

I thought it was only called ahornsiroop but apparently it's also called esdoornsiroop. you can find it at most health food stores. We call them Reformhuis or Natuurvoedingswinkel.
